The Cardinals have signed 26-year old infielder Ruben Gotay to a minor league deal. Gotay spent all of last season in AAA-ball playing in 118 games in which he was 101 for 371 (.272 avg, .879 OPS) with 65 runs scored, 11 homers and 57 RBIs. Gotay also showed a great eye in the minors last season walking 102 times while whiffing only 69 times. Gotay last played in the majors during the 2008 season with the Atlanta Braves. Gotay played in 316 games in his 4 years in the majors and he is 185 for 726 (.255 avg, .685 OPS) with 84 runs scored, 12 homers, 77 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. This was a good signing for the Cardinals as Gotay could help them off the bench this season.
