Scott Rolen off to a good start for the St. Louis Cardinals this season

Scott Rolen has been very productive so far this season for the Cardinals.  He has played in 17 games so far this season and he’s 18 for 64 (.281 avg, .797 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 2 homers and 10 RBIs.  Not many of the Cards hitters are off to good starts, not even Albert Pujols so Rolen’s hot stick has been important as the Cardinals try to stay afloat in the division.

Yadier Molina slumping with the bat for the St. Louis Cardinals

Yadier Molina is playing good defense again for the Cardinals but he’s not hitting at all.  With other guys slumping early in the year Molina’s weak bat is really hurting the team.  Still, Gary Bennett isn’t a better overall player than Molina so the Cards will keep putting his name in the lineup.  He has played in 15 games so far this season and he’s only hitting .213 with a .585 OPS.  He is 10 for 47 with only 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs so far this season.

The St. Louis Cardinals have a rough 3rd week of the season

The Cardinals were only 2-5 last week as they were outscored 37-24.  The Cardinals didn’t do anything well last week and they better get their act together so they can defend their crown.  The Cardinals are currently in 4th place in the National League Central, 3 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers.

The St. Louis Cardinals need Jim Edmonds to get into gear

Jim Edmonds just hasn’t looked like himself so far this season.  Edmonds is only hitting .195 with a .503 OPS so far this season and that’s a big reason why the Cards are having problems scoring runs.  He’s only 8 for 41 with only 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.  The Cardinals really need his power bat to get cranking if the offense is ever going to get firing on all cylinders.

The St. Louis Cardinals had a great 2nd week of the season

The St. Louis Cardinals went 4-1 last week and they outscored their opponents 21-9!  The Cardinals pitching staff was awesome last week and that’s why they were 4-1.  The Cardinals are tied for 2nd place in the National League Central with the Milwaukee Brewers with a 6-5 record, 1/2 a game behind the Cincinnati Reds.
